Japanese Bookbinding YT A5, funfair concept

This completely handmade notebook measures 14,8 x 21 (cm) and has 60blank unlined recycled white paper pages. Back cover is 1mm black cardboard and the front cover created by Yeliz Yorulmaz as a photographic collage and printed on 210 gsm Glossy Photo Paper. Completely hand-bound pages stitched onto the cover with black cotton thread by using the Japanese Bookbinding Technique,Kangxi. In this technique, six small holes are made along the spine edge and the sheets and covers, and then bound together tightly with string or thread ties that wrap around the spine. Since Japanese are masters of bookbinding, they figured out the secrets of making long lasting and eye-catching books.

Coptic Binding A5, Drawing

This completely handmade notebook measures 14,8 x 21(cm) and has 96 blank unlined recycled cream paper pages. Back cover is 2mm cardboard wrapped with 120gsm grey paper and the front cover is 2mm heavy-duty cardboard covered with the printed image of a drawing made by Yeliz Yorulmaz. Completely hand-bound pages stitched onto the cover with yellow cotton thread by using the Coptic Binding Technique. This ancient style of hand-sewing leaves the spine exposed and the stitching visible. Aside from the beauty of the stitches along the spine, Coptic binding allows the book to lay completely flat when open, making it useful for sketching and/or journaling.

Back cover is 2mm cardboard wrapped with 120gsm green paper and the front cover is 2mm heavy-duty cardboard covered with the printed image of a drawing made by Yeliz Yorulmaz. Completely hand-bound pages stitched onto the cover with carmine coloured cotton thread by using the Coptic Binding Technique. This ancient style of hand-sewing leaves the spine exposed and the stitching visible. Aside from the beauty of the stitches along the spine, Coptic binding allows the book to lay completely flat when open, making it useful for sketching and/or journaling.
